Genre: Northern English Indie Punk
The Good: I’m surprised this band isn’t more well known. They have been around since the 90s and sound very much like the popular indie band Los Campesinos. They have a male and female singer both who switch places sometimes within verses or other times take different verses. Just like Campesinos, their lyrics are very personal, but with a peculiar edge where simple occurrences and random daily objects are used in quirky fashion to write love songs. They aren’t as experimental as Los Campesinos, no children’s musical instruments used here. However, this may make them more listenable to those not wanting crazy instrumentation. Instead, they carry a more punk/fast indie feeling with perhaps more angst thrown in than Campesinos.
The Bad: They may be too English for those not of Albion.
Would I Listen Again: Yes
