The Bad: Garage rock these days needs to have character in order to make it. No longer is it something that stands out like it did in the late 60s for being fast and dirty. This last point holds even more so now since a lot of bands are tossing the gritty recordings for computer perfection. This album lacks the character bands like The Strokes and The Hives had 10 years ago. It’s this character that has helped The Orwells make a scene in the 12312412432 garage rock revival. Otherwise, all garage rock has is power chords and in this band’s case, a lot of the songs sound the same. They probably use the same chord progressions too a few times.
